Holston Army Ammunition Plant
Tony Hewitt is the Director of Commercial
Development for BAE SYSTEMS Ordnance Systems Inc. (OSI), an explosive
product producer and operating contractor of the Holston Army Ammunition
Plant. Mr. Hewitt is responsible for the strategic development of the
Holston site and attracting new business and industry to the site.
Ordnance Systems Inc. has a 25-year operating
contract with the U. S. Army at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant.
Four key elements of the OSI contract include peacetime supply, replenishment,
research and development, and facilities use. During peacetime, OSI
is to fulfill all requirements of the U. S. Army at a fixed price.
In times of conflict, the facility stands ready to massively increase
production to meet the Army’s needs. OSI’s goal is to make
the Holston site a Center of Excellence for explosives manufacturing
and manufacturing processes. OSI is also charged with reconfiguration
of the site and development of commercial businesses at Holston that
will generate more jobs for the community and the region.
Tony joined Ordnance Systems Inc. in
1998 as the Director of Commercial Development. He is a Risk Management
Consultant with extensive experience in risk management, loss prevention,
and health and safety in aerospace, defense, construction, railways,
heavy industry and major public sector operations. Prior to his new
position with Ordnance Systems Inc., Tony worked extensively with British
Aerospace Royal Ordnance as a consultant in Joint Venture activity
and Management Contracting. He also served as a consultant to Northern
Ireland Railways, CrossRail and private sector transport companies
on the application and implementation of Safety Management Systems.
Born in Sussex, England, Tony has a Bachelor’s Degree in Safety
Management from Brighton Technical College. He is a member of the International
Institute of Risk and Safety Managers and an Associate Member of the
Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
Tony is married to Jackie, and they have
three children. He enjoys golf, water sports, music, photography and
watching motor sports. He resides in Kingsport, Tennessee.
