Jerry Hammonds is Vice President and General Manager of BAE SYSTEMS Ordnance Systems Inc. (OSI), an explosive manufacturer and Operating Contractor of the Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport, Tennessee. A native of Kingsport, Mr. Hammonds is a 1973 graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
Mr. Hammonds has worked at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant for more than 30 years, beginning his career with Holston Defense Corporation (HDC) in 1973 as a Process Chemical Engineer. In
1977, Mr. Hammonds was assigned to the Process Improvement Department, where he developed numerous explosives formulations and production processes for modernization of the Holston Explosives Plant. From 1984 through 1998, Mr. Hammonds served in various management positions in Research and Development and in the Explosives Division.
Mr. Hammonds joined Royal Ordnance North America as Manager, Explosives Plant on January 1, 1999. In August 2001, Jerry was promoted to Director of Manufacturing for explosives and acids production at Holston. In April 2003, Jerry was promoted to Vice President, OSI Manufacturing, and in November 2003 was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of OSI. In July 2004 Jerry was promoted to OSI Acting President.
Jerry and his wife Barbara live in Kingsport. They have two daughters. Jerry has served as Vice President of the Kingsport Jaycees and as a member of Kingsport Kiwanis, American Red Cross, and United Way of Kingsport. Currently, Jerry is active in the Rotary Club of Kingsport and is a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Hobbies include golf, hunting, fishing and landscaping.
